What does ALIGNMENT mean to you?

A few days ago I interviewed Caroline Zimba, Queen of Alignment and founder of ZimbaYoga on the subject of Alignment ahead of a workshop on the topic. In it we covered the following: Being 'in tune' physically, spiritually & emotionally How blockages in the mind (& lifestyle choices) manifest in the body Pigeon pose, camels & COURAGE What alignment means to us How you know when you're out of alignment Tips for getting into alignment Check out the 30min+ replay below....

Thinking about making ‘The Leap’?

I recently did a Facebook Live video on Career Transition with some Top Tips and a Q&A session for those of you who are thinking about making a big leap of some kind, the definition of which is obviously subjective. Hundreds of views later I've decided to consolidate everything into a blog post. 1) Surround yourself with like-minded people, those who really believe in you and what you're doing, or just support you (even if they have no idea what...

Turning Failures into Wins

Making a mess of my schedule today turned this morning into a complete blessing in disguise. Not only did I get on the wrong DLR train #fail but I backtracked and did the EXACT same thing again #fail - because two trains to different destinations arrived at the same platform. And because this is what we humans do in life. I then realised that I’d put the wrong dates in my diary and instead of being late, I was actually 1...

Perfection is Boring

To the point where I’ve been told that seeing others make mistakes, lose their train of thought, forget words mid-speech or not do the 'cleanest' of jobs, has become some kind of fetish (yes, the exact word used). I’ve also been told that I’m hot on the beauty of imperfections. To which I reply ‘I love them. Its what makes us human and not robots’. Which makes this an interesting topic of personal exploration. And through which I also hope that...

Happy New Year!

Saturated. Is the word I'd use to describe the Internet in relation to 'what a shitty 2016 it's been' and how 2017 is going to be so much better. I was almost tempted to shut down my social media for a few days as the constant bombardment was making me feel, quite frankly, stressed out. All this pressure to set goals and make this year better than the one before it. Then there is the entire Health & Fitness/Wellness industry jumping on...

Pick one thing. Do it consistently

I haven't eaten crisps from the work cupboard since 16th February 2016. To put this into context I used to go there at least once a day for a pack - ideally Salt & Vinegar. Sometimes this went up to two packs a day. Just because they were there. Crisps aren't part of my grocery shop so cannot be found around the house. When junk food is freely available at work then this can become a problem. Especially around the time of that afternoon slump. Some of...

The only Fitness class I ever stuck to

What was this you ask? The 'Group Training' section of my site may give you a clue. I've been doing Orangetheory® workouts since Boxing Day 2013 where I was only 1 of 3 people who showed up to get a head start on burning off the Christmas excess. The Islington studio was local to me and I would walk past every day curious about what this venue had been turned into now! I finally went in a few days before Christmas and booked...

You Are your Thoughts

It's been a while since my last post. The reason? Lots of new challenges and things going on, all of which boil down to having made the conscious decision to get uncomfortable this year. To force myself out of that comfort zone. To do the things I'm shit scared of! Why? Because you cannot keep doing the same thing day after day and expect a different outcome. The effect of this change in mindset and actions so far? New opportunities, new experiences, new friends,...

The Choice to Move

What would you do if you were told that you wouldn’t have full use of your limbs tomorrow? Having a fully functioning body is something that most of us take for granted. It’s something we forget to be grateful for. There are a lot of things we don’t appreciate until they’re taken away from us, whether on a temporary or more permanent basis. In 2009 I was restricted to a leg cast for 6 weeks during the summer after finishing...

CrossFit: In Summary

For those who follow me on Instagram or other social media, you’ll know that CrossFit has become a part of my regular training regime as of late last year. It has been likened to a ‘cult’ by some but I love it, and here’s why for those of you who may be are curious and/or have asked me: The training is very functional in nature and as the name suggests, crosses many disciplines. Workouts use a mix of bodyweight, gymnastics-style...
